Dangerously Distracted or Fabulously Focused

Text: Luke 10: 38-42

By the time we get to this story about Mary and Martha in the gospel of Luke, Jesus was starting to become laser focused on his impending death on the cross, and he was trying to get his disciples to share the focus. Constantly assailed by the many, the crowds, Jesus retreats to the comfort and warmth of the home of old and close friends, the house of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Mary and Martha are both clearly excited to have Jesus’ visit but show this in vastly different ways.
