Theme: A Humble Heart (the first in a 5 week series based on the life of King David).
Luke 8: 4-8, 15
Micah 6: 6-8
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
(from Psalm 103: 11-12)

Text: Psalm 130
Sub- Texts: Genesis 3:8-15 & Mark 3:20-35
The abiding image from the news this week was the dairy farmer who was winched to safety by a helicopter! Several hours before, he was moving his cows to safety in the dark when he was swept 1 kilometre down a flooded river before he was able to grab onto a tree in the middle of the raging torrent.
I wondered to myself – did he pray as he got swept away? Did he pray as he clung to the tree? Did he pray something along the lines of the Psalmist in Psalm 130:
“Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord…..” (v1)
