God is in our Bubble
The bible is full of lockdown stories if you think about it – Noah and his family locked down in the ark; the Israelite slaves in Egypt who locked down so that the angel of death would Passover; Jesus forcibly locked down in the tomb. In each situation there are some common factors including the new beginnings that emerged after the time of lockdown and the fact that God did not desert them in their time of lockdown. Connecting with God in times of distress
Today we will deal with the importance of keeping connected to God through a time of social isolation. It is the first of a 3-part series designed to empower our prayer life at this time when many of our normal personal interactions have been compromised. Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. May this time of worship sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low; Forgive us for our doubt and despair, and help us to rest in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord. He is Risen indeed! Alleluia! Welcome to Worship on this Easter Day. This day is about hope – in our context of C19 we need to keep hope alive. The resurrection is the antidote to the despair and hopelessness we sometimes feel about the way our world is going. The key question we will explore today is this: How does the resurrection bring us hope in times such as these? Good Friday is a day when we remember the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. It is a day that carries many layers of meaning including the way it shows us God’s willingness to suffer with humanity. This is a powerful message currently with so much hardship and suffering engulfing our globe and infiltrating the homes of our nation. We have a God who knows our suffering and our pain.
